My foray into AI-generated artwork was more out of intellectual curiosity than anything else. I have always had very little, if any, artistic/creative aptitude, so I wanted to see what an absolutely unskilled and untalented novice could generate with it. As I have access to Microsoft Copilot, I applied it in the following manner:

  • I selected a picture of my 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V from the set provided by the dealer I bought the car from, seen below (“Before”)
  • I had Copilot remove the background from the dealer’s picture. (“After”)
  • I selected some backgrounds from Copilot’s suggestions, and it generated composite images.

The one Copilot limitation I noted was that my Lincoln was “skewed” in some pictures with respect to the background roadway, the Alpine Trail seen above. Maybe I’m being picky, but if I were a real graphic artist, I would adjust the background or setting so that Lincoln is aligned with the roadway. Overall, my artwork will never be displayed alongside that of Norman Rockwell, but I think it’s better than I expected, given my overwhelming lack of talent.

I was wondering if any other LCOC members submitted any of their Lincoln/Continental AI-generated artwork in response to Bill Wolf’s article in Issue #390 to share their experiences. Clearly, the author is incredibly talented, and I enjoyed looking at his work.
